We are working with Learning through Landscapes, Nature Scot, and Professor Jonh McKendrick to deliver the Scottish School Grounds Survey. This research will explore outdoor spaces in Scottish Schools.
All schools are invited to take part in the survey. We are sending the survey directly to all schools, and it can be completed here: Fill in the Scottish School Grounds Survey.
Our questions focus on the provision and usage of school grounds.
Each school that responds will be entered into a raffle to win a range of outdoor learning and play resources, from online training to den building equipment. The prizes have a collective retail value of over £3000.
We hope the findings from this extensive research will inform policy and best practice going forward. We expect to publish our findings in a report in early summer 2025, alongside sharing our insights with our partners, local authorities, policymakers, and Education Scotland throughout the project.
