For many, it was the juicy highlight of a dreary Saturday spent on the school sport’s pitch.

But in recent decades, the traditional half-time orange has been benched from play, with coaches and clubs no longer providing fruit for mid-match intervals.

Thankfully though, a new healthy eating campaign is about to reinstate half-time oranges as a regular fixture by dishing out free fruit to junior football clubs across the country.
